Congratulations to Bette & Dick Wilburs, the 2011 RSVP Volunteers of the Year!

Elizabeth “Bette” & Richard “Dick” Wilbers were presented the 2011 RSVP (Retired Volunteer Service Person) Volunteer of the Year award by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners in Bartow on Thursday, March 24, 2011. Dick and Bette have been Guardian ad Litem volunteers for almost five (5) years. They have been the voice for 36 children with cases ranging from neglect to termination of parental rights . They always perform an outstanding job gathering information, visiting and getting to know their children, and presenting to the Judge what is in the children’s “best interest”. When another guardian ad litem is unable to make a visit, Bette & Dick can be called on to immediately jump in and make the visit. When one group of children was reunified with their father, the Wilburs were instrumental in helping to get furniture and household items for the family. They have helped supply food to the families when needed and, this Christmas, Bette spoke to her friends at Curves in Auburndale (a ladies’ exercise group),  as well as collected food and Christmas dresses for the children. Bette & Dick delivered over 100 outfits to the Guardian ad Litem Program. They are appreciated, loved and thanked for all they do for the children in this community.

Congrats to you, Bette!
Congrats to you, Dick!
